Essential Functions
- Assists maintenance/other staff (e.g. painting/other maintenance during school breaks, etc.) for the purpose of completing tasks and responding to coworker requests.
- Cleans outdoor areas (e.g. parking lot, landscaped areas, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a beautiful and safe learning environment.
- Communicates with staff and district personnel for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns whenever needed; and serving as a primary communication source in an emergency situation.
- Communicates safety and security policies and enforcement procedures to students, staff and visitors (e.g. drop-off and pick-up practices, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring their understanding of such information and the potential consequences of violation.
- Directs traffic (e.g. pick-up and drop-offs, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety of students and other pedestrians.
- Intervenes in potential conflicts and emergency situations (e.g. missing child, fights, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing disruptions of campus activities and/or injury to involved parties.
- Monitors student behavior during and between assigned periods (e.g. rest rooms, playgrounds, hallways, library, cafeteria, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring student compliance with established guidelines, maintaining a safe and positive learning environment, and secure facility.
- Participates in unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
- Patrols school facilities (e.g. grounds, roads, buildings, adjacent areas, parking lots, etc.) for the purpose of providing visibility, maintaining security, and deterring criminal activities.
- Prepares written materials (e.g. incident reports, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
- Refers incidents to appropriate school and/or law enforcement personnel (e.g. personal injuries, altercations, suspicious activities, rule violations, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring follow-up in accordance with administrative, site security and student safety guidelines.
- Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources regarding campus security issues (e.g. parents, teachers, students, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, direction and/or referral for addressing inquiry.
- Responds to a variety of situations (e.g. accidents, injuries, vandalism, suspicious activities, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking the appropriate action to resolve immediate safety and/or security concerns.
- Secures facilities and grounds (e.g. doors, gates, alarms, lights, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss and/or potential liability.
Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Equivalency: Previous experience as a security officer or police officer is desired. Verifiable experience in these areas may substitute for educational requirements.
Certificates and Licenses: IVP (Identity Verified Print) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Pay: $15.50HR
