Position Summary

Security Officer (Unarmed Security) are instrumental in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, patients, physicians, students, vendors and visitors by monitoring and patrolling our facilities. Officers demonstrate exceptional customer service while providing assistance with disruptive incidents, emergency services, personal protection and traffic/parking control.



Responsibilities
  • Leadership/Staff Management: Keeps the COO/Associate Administrator/Plant Ops Director and/or Market Security Director and Zone 
  • Leader apprised of any potential security concerns. 
     
    • Maintains objectivity in decision making, utilizing facts to support decisions. 
    • Develops and manages the annual department operating capital budgets. 
    • Direct and supervise security personnel, monitor quality and quantity of workflow, initiates personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, completes performance appraisals. 
    • Responds proactively to employee needs and concerns. 
    • Evaluates assigned staff performance and competency, providing direct feedback. 
    • Assesses learning needs, develops competency plans and provides opportunities for learning. 

 

  • Security Operations:  
     
    • Establishes goals and objectives that support the overall strategic plans of Tenet Corporate Security & assigned facility. 
    • Leads regular department meetings (huddles) and employee meetings for communication of policy, procedures and daily updates. 
    • The Security Manager II promotes a proactive loss prevention focus and ensures effective investigations are conducted around any reported violation of security policy. 20%
    • Communicates security status, updates, and actual or potential problems, using established protocols. 
    • Respond to emergencies, bomb threats, fire alarms, or intrusion alarms, etc., following established emergency response procedures. 
    • Functions as a primary point of contact for the installation of physical security systems within assigned facility. 
    • Utilize knowledge of security-related equipment and technologies including radios, CCTV / IP cameras, imaging recording systems, personal computers, software programs, databases and access control systems to strengthen hospital operations. 
    • Assists in the development of a culture of safety by supporting safety education, and safety events. 
    • Plans, coordinates and assists, if needed, in security for special and high-risk events. 
    • Audits line security operations to ensure consistency in the application of patrol strategies and service initiatives. 
    • Prepares and maintains Security Management Plan. 
    • Develops and maintains approved training programs for all members of the security staff. 
    • Ensure compliance of applicable policies and regulations while implementing security measures. - Acts as Incident Commander during a crisis. 
    • Oversees shift-based drills to ensure security personnel readiness. Drills include, but are not limited to, de-escalation, CPI, NCI, physical techniques, use of force, active shooter, etc.

 

  • Reporting/Data Driven Decision Making: 
    • Collect and analyze security and financial data to determine efficiency and quality of security operations, security program goals, or program accomplishments. 
    • Prepares location and corporate security reporting as directed, and/or on identified schedule. 

 

  • Compliance: 
    • Reviews and makes necessary recommendations for changes based on applicable standards, regulations, and requirements of Federal, State and local agencies including but not limited to OSHA/ADOSH, TJC, Arizona Department of Health Services, EPA, CDC and others. 
    • Complies with safety universal precautions, and hazardous material policies. 
    • Conducts monthly checks of duress and intrusion alarms. 
    • Attends all Safety and Risk Management Committee meetings. 
    • Participates in/Assists with coordination of quarterly infant/child abduction drills.

 

  • General: 
    • Assist in emergency management and contingency planning. 
    • Maintains a good working relationship with local law enforcement authorities. 
    • Assists medical staff when necessary, with ensuring patient safety. 
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities and meet established timeframes for completion. 
    • Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned


Qualifications
  • Minimum Requirements:
    • Education: High school graduate or GED required or equivalent combination of education and experience (Experience is two to three years in a security role, law enforcement or military background or a minimum of three years of strong customer service roles with the ability and willingness to learn security practices.
    • Experience: Three or more years in a progressively more responsible leadership role.
    • Licensure/Certifications:  
      • Requires the ability to obtain, and maintain, appropriate state license/certifications for this position.
      • Crisis Intervention Certification preferred, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of start of role. 
      • Must be able to maintain certification while in role. 
      • Must maintain a valid state driver’s license, driver history that meets company requirements.
